TASK 1

Vogue Magazine April 2024 - Chioma Nnadi's First Issue as Head of Editorial  Content - British Vogue 

Cover
-FKA twigs is on the cover with a mid shot. she is represented as a powerful feminine
-in the cover the subjects used are marriage, parenting, beauty and makeup
- the colour scheme is chosen to show pastel yellow and blue/grey in the background, this reflects at the time the magazine was released 
-the masthead is at the top of the page and is a serif font which connotes to being classy
-only one main image
-3 sets of cover lines and one main cover line across the bottom

 -the text is organised in a column which stop near 1/3 down the page
-the colour palette used is quite bright which links to the products
-they influence on how to start a beauty routine

Overall 
-vogue is a very high class company with very clasy fonts to represent that
-they focus on models bodys
- gives idea on how you should look after yourself
-the people shown are made to look very high up and classy
-the target audience is around 20 and young adult as beauty is very appealing to the age range.

-Kylie Jenner is on the front cover with a mid shot and she's been represented as very confident and bold women
-The subjects included are beauty, fashion etc.
-the colour scheme includes purple, silver, black 
-the masthead is at the top of the page right across with bold letters
-there is only one main image used
-there are 6 cover lines
-the institutional info is a £2 price tag which is placed 1/4 down the page from the top on the left
-there are 3 different fonts used and each of them vary in size
-there are no puffs

-Glamour beauty book in the top left hand corner with underneath numbered information to say which page is which 
-1 photo used on the top right using up half of the top page with another smaller photo of a product underneath 
-One large column all down the page on the left then underneath image another half column, both containing the page numbers for what each page is about

-glamour is a classy brand with colourful fonts used which entices the view of it
-they focus on the models looks and how they are presenting the products
-shows young people on how to naturally take care of yourself 
-the people used are shown to be very looked after and someone to be inspired by
-the target audience is around teenage years meaning 13-20 as the beauty is starting to influence them and give ideas

Secondary research is a research method that uses data that was collected by someone else.

TASK 2

imagery- professional, clear, sleek, clean images of the model with the products 
colour palette- modern, nude, pastel 
typography- text Varey's not a huge difference in size however masthead is bigger
lexis- terminology used is very high standard and posh for a high review
topics for articles- the popular searches and interests that the age range is familiar to
representations of people- very attractive and appealing to the eye with high branded clothes and made to look very classy and put together.

TASK 3

VOGUE
-The representation of the magazine is strong, healthy, feminine models
-The gender is represented by showing the women to be represented as confident and independent by the use of shot types and the poses that the model do
-Age is represented as being for young adults with using the models that are similar ages this has been constructed as a use of idea how women stereotypically should be like/looking up to
-Ethnicity is represented to be as a different range of ideas as the worldwide magazine gets to different colours/life backgrounds however they still portray everyone as equally feminine
-Fashion is represented by the models clothing in the shots which is seen as smart, put together outfit choices so it gives the audience the idea and inspiration
-The stereotypes used repeatedly in the magazine is the models look and body and being made to look noticeably beautiful 

GLAMOUR
-The representation of the magazine is showing the models to be put together and very bold model
-The gender is represented by showing the confidence that Kylie shows by her facial expressions and poses used
-Age is represented for around 30+ with using the cover lines talking about the subjects the age range are most likely to be interested in for example Botox, beauty, hair
-Ethnicity is represented to be about the ideas of beauty and the shared opinions and being inspired by the magazine images/text
-Fashion is represented by the fact that the model used is Kylie Jenner who is extremely popular and known to be very attractive which then inspires women to be influenced in the fashion trends and it gives ideas for what style to be wearing
-The stereotypes used repeatedly in the magazine is how you should be looking and influencing expensive procedures like Botox to look younger

Secondary audience research 
Vogue includes multiple different fashion trends. The topics used are beauty, culture, runway, lifestyle. There's a very broad age range which is from around 17- 29 year olds. They advertise this by targeting affluent fashion and beauty enthusiasts.

Glamour is a magazine that covers what women want and need. They use subjects about fashion, beauty, wellness, pop culture. The age range targets around young adults to middle aged women (18-49).

CONCLUSION

I chose fashion as my magazine sub genre. I think it would appeal to 16-24 years old as the beauty/fashion trends are influencing them to stereotypically fit in 

My target audience is for women who have a high interest in fashion and beauty and are inspired by the high branded and classy products/clothing.

My three possible names for my magazine is

A possible tagline for my magazine is 

The style on my front page i am going to try make it look classy but also interesting to the reader's eye.

The colour palette i'm going to be using will be quite light colours eg. light pink, blue, grey

My cover page will be either a single model or two people used as models with a mid-shot

My content for cover lines will be linked to the magazine eg. fashion

The font style i will use will be a mix of sans serif/serif

The images i will use on my contents page is fashion outfits, beauty products etc

The style on my article page will be classy and appealing to the audience that are inspired

My articles will be about the trends that are in and helping to find the style that is right for individual people

The types of images that will be in the article page will be more model photos and products in different sizes

I will show that they are all in the same magazine by continuing on information in detail

The typography that I'll use throughout the 3 pages will be different sizes of text with also different fonts to bring attention towards specific words

The representations I'll use throughout the 3 pages will be of the fashion society which includes what interests and the most popular styles around the 16-24 age range

Explain why audiences play video games. Refer to the uses and gratifications theory in your response.  [12]

USE THIS STRUCTURE TO ANSWER THE EXAM QUESTION:

  • Explain what the uses and gratifications theory is.
  • Entertainment – explain what pleasure audiences get from playing video games and give an example.
  • Personal Identity – explain how audiences might use video games to construct their own identity and give an example.
  • Social Interaction – explain how audiences can communicate with each other through video games and give an example.
  • Information – explain how audience could gain knowledge from playing video games and give an example.
In my opinion, the reason audiences play video games is that they are intrigued by what the game is about and it links with there interest. This is a good example for the uses and gratifications theory as the theory is told that it deals with the understanding of why people use certain types of media and what needs to be included for certain interests and the gratifications that are used to bring the audience playing these games to have a intrigued feeling to tap back onto the game, the desire and excitement to play the game. For example, the entertainment in the game is extremely important because this brings the type of audience a somewhat pleasure to play the game and to be good at it. The game Fortnite was and still is a extremely popular game and this is because the games gratifications targets a certain audience and its been thoroughly thought out with updates every few months for the pleasure to restart over again. With Fortnite also, there is ways to play with friends which brings lots of advantages as it's a way of somewhat socialising and communicating while being interested in the game. Audience can gain knowledge from playing video games as it targets the brains ability to be focused on the situation there in and it can enhance the abilities in the video games which overall means being stronger at the game and therefore having a high interest in it. The structure of the game is very important and needs to be thought through and assessed to meet the standards that there target audience is.
