Intertextuality

The montage design where separate images are laid over each other, references previous bond films providing a sense of familiarity, nostalgia and pleasure fans who recognise the link.

The locations shown in the poster shows the action side of the film. It shows flames that connotes to explosions which also tells the audience that there's lots of dramatic scenes with fighting as guns are shown to. An italian city is shown on the poster also on the other side being a bar in cuba. This shows exotic places which tells us the narrative is different locations with travel involved.

On the poster multiple characters are shown in it but overall you can see the main character

James bond is an action hero
Hes been represented as strength, skill, independence
The women in the film are known as 'Bond girls' who are disposable

In the No time to die poster the streotypes are that James Bond is a very masculine, strong man. He is stereotypically been shown as the historical man. The girls more known as 'Bond girls' have been stereotypically been shown to be very attractive and beautiful. The poster has an extreme high class film franchise. The gender is represented as the men and women being very attractive looking and posh.  They are seen to be as very intelligent also. The representations of ethnicity were both men and women were white and tanned skin colour. The representations of age that they are all middle aged but also quite young characters. The representations of sexuality are all straight.

HOMEWORK

In the film poster no time to die the images used have a meaning by the fact that in the poster there are a variety of characters used. In the poster, James Bond is the most noticeable character as he’s the biggest across the image. This has been done to bring the most attention to him as he is the main character and then the rest of the characters are smaller around him. The mise-en-scene used has a view on the film itself, it shows the action involved in the film with flames used which connotes to explosions and shows the dramatic view of the film. There are also different locations shown in the poster which tells us there’s travel and moving around. The layout and design used in the poster is very much advertising to the eye. There’s so much going on in the background which draws attention. This has been done to make the audience has so many questions, which makes them feel the need to find out what the film is about. Overall, the poster has been very thought through to make it very appealing and wanting the audience to find out more.

1)To give a perspective of an idea what the film is about

2)The gun shows that there's violence and action involved, his costume shows he's a wealthy businessman, the facial expressions show that, the direct address shows hes the main character directly looking at you

3)The golden guns shows the connotations of the title of the film

4)The text has the colour which contrasts and draws attention to all the montage of images

5)The enigma code created are Who is the man with the golden gun

The film poster for The man with the golden gun uses images to create meanings. The images used shows connotions to the amount of action and violence involved within the film. A montage of pictures have been used to inform the audience the style of film. Its very obvious that its a violent film with the guns and explosions shown.

Film posters
At the start of the 20th century, many film depictions of minority ethnic groups supported the dominant stereotypes of the time- to be pitied, to be laughed at.

STEREOTYPES- the men have been made to look very business dedicated. the women have been shown to be looking stereotypically sexy for the man. the stereotypes have been used to emphasise the genre and action in the film.

REPRESENTATION OF GENDER- the men have guns and been shown to be involved with the drama with explosions. the women have been shown to be attracting the men with little clothing.

REPRESENTATION OF ETHNICITY- All are light skinned or no people of ethnicity.

REPRESENTATIONS ISSUES AND EVENTS- the issues have been shown to relate to the events happened in the world when the film was created with images of power plants.

FEMINIST PERSPECTIVE- the women have been used to be in bikinis which links to sexual attraction towards the men which also links to the male gaze theory.

Uses and Gratification Theory
Uses and gratification is a theory from two men called Blumler and Katz that audiences takes an active role in using the media. The theory states that an audience will use a media form for either one of four reasons.
Personal identity
Information
Entertainment
Social interaction

PERSONAL IDENTITY

-media products allows audiences to find role models and other people with similar values
-use of media to reinforce personal values by coming closer to similar and desired people/products

INFORMATION

-any information can be learned through different forms of media
-the media keeps the audience informed with current events
- people can acquire information from media events

ENTERTAINMENT

-use of media to escape the humdrum of their boring everyday lives
-access media forms to forget about worries and troubles for a while

SOCIAL INTERACTION

-the ability of products to produce a topic of conversation between other people
-media allows the audience to gain an insight into other people's lives

Social interaction is applied to news because it helps with communication and updating people with whats going on around the world. For example instagram gives people the ability to upload there lives and let people know the small and big events going on.

BAND 4

For the people interested in the film to be talking about what they think about it.

How would the film contribute to personal identity?
It gives the audience role models to what they want to be like.
